Message from the Headteacher Thank you for visiting our school website. We hope that you will enjoy finding out more about Hoyland Springwood. Our class blogs will give you a flavour of the learning in each of our classes and the ‘Our School’ section provides further information about our school. We are an academy and along with our partner schools Wombwell Park Street Primary School, High View Primary Learning Centre, Wellgate Primary School and Kexborough Primary School, we are part of the Every Child Matters (ECM) Academy Trust. We have a vibrant learning community and visitors often comment on how warm and welcoming the school feels. Please do get in touch with Mrs Katherine Clark, Headteacher, if you have any queries or would like to arrange a visit.
Values & Ethos Hoyland Springwood is a warm, welcoming and inclusive school. We recognise the importance of working with the whole family and strive to engage parents and carers in school life and their children’s learning. As part of the Every Child Matter’s Academy Trust, we work to ensure that all children, irrespective of background or need, progress socially, emotionally and academically, and that any barriers to achievement are minimised as far as possible. We want all children and families to have high aspirations and for children to fulfil their potential. Opportunities are sought to provide the children with not only a strong education in the core skills of literacy, numeracy and ICT but also a wider education which prepares them for a full and productive future as a citizen of the world. We believe that our children need to understand their community at all levels – locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Hoyland Springwood is a smaller than average primary school located in the former mining community of Hoyland. We currently have five classes catering for children from Reception to Year 6.
