Friday 18th January
We took a team of six children to Hoyland Common Primary School to take part in a Boccia event. There were seven other schools that took part in the event.
Olivia, James, Mason, Junior, Joel and Lewis made up our team and they had a great time playing against all the other schools in the partnership.
They were a real credit to the school and represented Springwood fantastically.
Our next sporting event is Friday 25th January at Hoyland Common for a year 5/6 football match.

Friday 16th November
We took a team of six children to the Year 3/4 football at West Meadows. We were drawn in a group with Birdwell, Holland Common and West Meadows. We struggled in the first game against Birdwell, losing 4-0.
In the next game we beat West Meadows 2-1 with both Josh Berry and Warren Greensmith scoring the goals. With a win in the final game against Holland Common we would qualify for the semi finals.
A great start to the game saw Josh burst through one on one with their keeper who managed to save a certain goal. Common went straight up the other end and scored. Common ran out 3-1 winners with a Josh scoring our goal direct from a corner.

Friday 29th September
We welcomed six schools from the Kirk Balk Sports Partnership to take part in the KS1 Cross Country at Hoyland Springwood. The schools that attended were, Birdwell, Ward Green, Tankersley, Greenfield, West Meadows and Jump.
This year the children were pushed that little bit harder as we asked them to run two laps of the course (1/2 a mile). The course was really challenging with a couple of steep, tricky hills including running through the forest.
Our children were brilliant, tried really hard and enjoyed themselves. Overall the girls finished 4th and the boys 5th in their competitions.
Individually their results were as follows:
Poppy Needham 11th
Edie Moss 10th
Georgie Merritt 14th
Lily Oliver 4th
Jenson Boocock 12th
Blake Copnell 14th
Harrison Wigley 7th
Deaken Jubb 11th
Lucas Prest 12th

The whole school had a great time running around the KS1 cross county track!
Well done to those who did four laps. Today you’ve walked, jogged or ran a MILE!
Can you do the same tomorrow?
