Wednesday 3rd October
We took six children to Locke Park for the KS2 Barnsley Cross Country qualifying event. There were over 100 children in each race. To qualify for the Barnsley Cross Country Finals children needed to finish in the top ten.
All of the children performed brilliantly on the date despite their nerves and finished in the following positions:
Riley Wigley 12th
Ewan Ibbotson 56th
Josh Berry 14th
Amelia Riley 1st
Hayden Oliver 8th
Elouise Hunt 2nd
Amelia , Elouise and Hayden have now qualified for the Barnsley Finals which will take place in November.
Friday 29th September
We welcomed six schools from the Kirk Balk Sports Partnership to take part in the KS1 Cross Country at Hoyland Springwood. The schools that attended were, Birdwell, Ward Green, Tankersley, Greenfield, West Meadows and Jump.
This year the children were pushed that little bit harder as we asked them to run two laps of the course (1/2 a mile). The course was really challenging with a couple of steep, tricky hills including running through the forest.
Our children were brilliant, tried really hard and enjoyed themselves. Overall the girls finished 4th and the boys 5th in their competitions.
Individually their results were as follows:
Poppy Needham 11th
Edie Moss 10th
Georgie Merritt 14th
Lily Oliver 4th
Jenson Boocock 12th
Blake Copnell 14th
Harrison Wigley 7th
Deaken Jubb 11th
Lucas Prest 12th
The whole school had a great time running around the KS1 cross county track!
Well done to those who did four laps. Today you’ve walked, jogged or ran a MILE!
Can you do the same tomorrow?

Tuesday 5th June
We took 10 children (5 boys and 5 girls) to a Rounders tournament at Netherwood School. Eleven other schools took place in the event and we were placed in a group with Brierley, Ladywood and Birkwood.
The winners of each group would go forward to participate at the Barnsley Finals. After a close opening match we managed to beat Brierley 12-8. We followed this up with a 4-1 victory against Birkwood. We knew that a win in the last game against Ladywood would secure a place at the Barnsley Finals.
Ladywood batted first and and managed to score 2 1/2 rounders, we comfortably best this scoring 7 1/2 to secure a place at the finals, which will take place on Tuesday 19th June.
A huge well done to the following children: Rhys, Toby, Coby, Jack, Jacob, Abbie, Jessica, Natasha, Elouise and Ellie.
